My profile
Biography
My early career was in visual communications, media and the publications industry working on a range of blue-chip accounts, culminating in various managerial/director roles. I came to Law mid-career with an LLB (Hons) degree followed by an LLM (research), which led to working within Housing and Communities, plus other roles in the advice/legal sector.
Working in the voluntary sector for many years has contributed to my wealth of knowledge and experience, these roles have included advisor at the CAB and a long standing board member of a Housing Trust managing over 4,500 homes in the Manchester area. The socio-legal aspects of these roles have been invaluable, linking to my current role within the Law School.
My current teaching areas are: Legal Systems and Professional Life unit; Socio-Legal subject areas; Law of the European Union; Family Law; Dissertation Supervision (UG and PG); Projects Supervision (UG); Personal Academic Tutor at undergraduate level. Other subject areas have included: unit leader on the Legal Skills and Professional Life unit; Digital Skills for Lawyers; Tort Law; Land Law; Criminal Justice (Foundation level); LLB-LP Distance Learning; Hong Kong - EU Law marking; General Diploma in Law – EU Law. Additionally, I am the education leadership REPWOA liaison and the link tutor for the Student Law Societies.
Equalities and LGBTQI issues are strong areas of interest with the addition of combining my specialist areas to extend to ‘legal design’ – applying visual communication in the areas of legal practice and in the teaching of law.
