Postgraduate tuition fees
Find out what it will cost to study your chosen course as a UK student— and how you can pay for your tuition fees.
Course costs
The tuition fees you’ll pay depend on:
- the course you are doing
- where you normally live — fees paid by students resident in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands differ from other countries
- whether you are studying part-time or full-time. Part-time fees depend on how many units you take each academic year and how many credits they’re worth
- whether specialist facilities or resources are needed
Tuition fees will stay the same for each year of your course, providing you complete it in the agreed timeframe.
Fees are listed on the course pages. To check how much you’ll have to pay, find your course in our A-Z listing.
How to pay your postgraduate tuition fees
There are three ways to pay:
- fund the course yourself
- take out a postgraduate loan
- get a sponsor or employer to pay
For advice about scholarships, our alumni discount and available bursaries and grants, check out how to fund your postgraduate course.
Fund the course yourself
If you pay your own tuition fees, you can either:
- pay in full before or at enrolment
- or join one of our instalment schemes
You can choose how to pay during online enrolment or by contacting the Finance Service Centre.
Paying in full
If you are paying in full, we accept:
- online payments by
- credit or debit card
- Flywire, a secure and low-cost online payment service available from any country in one of 70 currencies
- cheque or banker’s draft made payable to Manchester Metropolitan University or MMU
- in-person payment, using credit, debit or multi-currency cards at the Finance Service Centre or Business School Student Hub
Paying in instalments
If you’re a UK student, you do not need to pay a tuition fee deposit.
Your tuition fees can be paid in three instalments, usually in October, January and April.
If you enrol online, you can choose whether to pay by:
- automatic credit or debit card payments
- Direct Debit
After enrolment, you can arrange to be invoiced and make individual payments by contacting the Finance Service Centre.
Take out a loan
If you’ve applied for a loan in Northern Ireland or Scotland, your loan payments are sent directly to us.
If you’ve applied for a postgraduate loan in England or Wales, you’ll be asked to set up an automatic card payment when you create your instalment plan.
You’ll get a confirmation letter and invoice from Student Finance indicating your payment dates.
If these differs from the Manchester Met payment plan, please amend your instalment dates by emailing pgloan@mmu.ac.uk. This will prevent your fees from becoming overdue.
Employer or sponsor payment
If your tuition fees are being paid by an employer or other sponsor, they must email studentbillings@mmu.ac.uk to confirm they will pay before you can enrol.
