This summer, the Centre for Enterprise at Manchester Metropolitan University will be hosting its first fully face-to-face Help to Grow: Management (HtGM) course.

The programme, normally run as a blend of online and in-person sessions over 12 weeks, will be revamped to a more intensive, focused course taking place at the University’s Business School.

Rob McKay, Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Growth and programme lead for HtGM said: “We’ve run Help to Grow: Management for the past three years and the feedback we’ve received has been that it’s the face-to-face elements of the programme that participants enjoy the most. The fact that they’re taking time to work on the business, in a supportive environment and developing a network of peers has been valuable to them. We also acknowledge that 12 weeks may be a tricky ask for someone running a small business, and so the Help to Grow: Management summer school format began.

“We’re excited to be able to offer the course during the summer – at a time that for some businesses can be a quieter period. By condensing the 12 modules into eight days throughout the summer, this means that our business leaders are also taking less time away from their desks.”

Completing the Help to Grow: Management course will help businesses to:

  • Develop strategies for growth, including entering new markets or launching new products/services

  • Build an agile business resistant to future shocks

  • Improve employee engagement and productivity

  • Develop a customised growth action plan

  • Effectively engage with customers to enhance sales

  • Revive your business tactics to boost Q4 and 2025 strategies

The course starts on 1 July 2024.
