First Generation Scholarship Programme

Transforming the lives of over 1,000 students from the North West, whose parents or guardians did not go to university.
Freelands Painting Fellowship
- Supported by: The Freelands Foundation
Giving Fine Art alumni the opportunity to develop their practice through the provision of financial support, access to studio and exhibition space, and the opportunity to engage with staff and current students.
Kanka Mallick Teacher Training Award
- Supported by: Emeritus Professor Gajendra Verma (of The University of Manchester)
Recognising Dr Kanka Mallick’s commitment to inclusivity and ‘giving back’, and her contribution to Manchester Met.
Dr Mallick was a valued Senior Lecturer in Educational Psychology until she retired in 2002.
Neelam Aggarwal Scholarship

Helping disadvantaged children and young people to advance in life.
Inclusion for everyone was Neelam’s aim throughout her working life.
Neelam graduated from Manchester Met and taught in a large multicultural school for many years.
PlayStation Career Pathways Program
- Supported by Sony Interactive’s Social Justice Fund
Transformational digital technology and creative undergraduate and postgraduate degree scholarships are available for students from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
As part of the initiative, scholars have access to additional employability support for example, to undertake placements, internships, and attend conferences.
