About us

Educating teachers for over 100 years

The School of Education has an established history of educating teachers, practitioners, and professionals.

We’re proud to be one of the largest teaching establishments in the country, with over 1,500 regional partners of schools, colleges and educational organisations.

We offer over 20 specialisms in secondary teacher education, ranging from mathematics to design and technology, as well as modern foreign languages. At doctoral level, we offer education research degrees, including a PhD in Education Research.

Many of our academics are members of the Education and Social Research Institute (ESRI), an inclusive and radical research space.

We tackle the local, national and international challenges faced by teaching professionals, innovating and implementing best practices to make a global impact.
